Saying that I like a variety of Christmas music would be an understatement.  It's more like I require it.  So I leapt for joy when I saw that "A Very Dubby Christmas" by Predator Dub Assassins was available as a free download.  How much free Dancehall Reggae Christmas music do we get after all?  Not enough, that's for sure.

P-Dub and his band of merry making Predator Dub Assassins call New York home, and they bring some disparate New York sounds to their Rasta, including Rock and Hip Hop.  But, in the end, it's the Soul that sells it.  Just listen to "Wish You A Merry Christmas".  

"A Very Dubby Christmas" is a mix of traditional carols and modern Christmas hits.  The approach works better on some cuts than others.  I mean, I'm not sure the Kinks' "Father Christmas" was cut out for the Reggae beat, but it's growing on me and I'm glad it exists.  On the other hand, I instantly loved the feel of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)".  And, for something a little more, pardon me, "dubby", the instrumental of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" is amazing.  Until somebody tells me otherwise, I'm taking "Christmas Time" as an original, and a very welcome one at that.

P-Dub and the Predator Dub Assassins are no strangers to either Christmas music, nor to free music, having participated in both for several years.  "Little Drummer Boy", for example, was their free Christmas single in 2017.  And I know a lot of you hate that song.  But I think this version from the Predator Dub Assassins might change your thinking.  Just sayin'.
